so yesterday mike and i went up to the humane society where we got batman 3 years ago because i had seen a dog online that i wanted to check out. we’ve been talking about getting another dog lately, to keep batman company and to help him be more social with other dogs.
so this dog we visited, his name is barnaby and he is a 1 year old beagle. he was found stray, and due to an injury, he had to have his front left leg amputated.
we get there and look at all the dogs and take barnaby for a walk. he just had the amputation about 3 weeks ago, but he seems to be getting along pretty well. he was shy at first, but warmed up pretty quickly.
eventually we had him meet batman, and they were kind of ambivalent to each other, which was good. at least they weren’t growling at each other. and then barnaby seemed really happy, and was jumping on mike and i, being really friendly.
we weren’t sure if we wanted to adopt a disabled dog, so we decided to sleep on it. there are obvious reasons for not adopting a disabled dog, but he had such a nice temperament and seemed to get along with batman. i would be ready to adopt him, despite the hardships it might cause, but mike thinks we should get a more healthy dog, which i understand. however, he said that if barnaby is still there in a month, we can adopt him :)
until then, we might keep looking…
oh my god oh MY GOD I FORGOT ABOUT THIS.
